第五届东亚运动会

东亚运动会为亚洲体坛四年一度的盛事。首届东亚运动会于1993年在中国上海举行，其后于韩国釜山(1997)、日本大阪(2001)及2005年于中国澳门所举行的四届东亚运动会，均为国际焦点所在。


Held once every four years, the East Asian Games (EAG) is a major event in the Asian international sports arena. The first EAG was held in China (Shanghai) in 1993, followed by Korea (Pusan) in 1997, Japan (Osaka) in 2001 and Macau in 2005.
Hong Kong won the hosting right of the 5th East Asian Games of 2009 in November 2003. The 5th East Asian Games Planning Committee was established by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in June 2004 to oversee and steer the organization of the 2009 EAG. In addition, 2009 East Asian Games (Hong Kong) Limited, registered as a company limited by guarantee, has been established for the implementation and delivery of the EAG.

香港在2003年11月赢得2009年第五届东亚运动会的主办权。香港特区政府于2004年6月成立「第五届东亚运动会筹备委员会」，负责策划各项筹备工作。此外亦成立2009东亚运动会(香港)有限公司作为运动会的执行机构，统筹和落实执行2009东亚运动会的各项工作。

本届东亚运动会共有9个国家, 2300名体坛精英竞逐 22项运动 项目共262项竞赛项目的金牌。无论在运动项目和参赛人数，皆是历届东亚运动会之冠。


The 5th East Asian Games will be held in Hong Kong from 5 - 13 December 2009. Around 2,300 elite athletes will compete for gold medals of 262 competition events under 22 sports ,making it the largest international multi-sport event ever held in Hong Kong.

Our mascots "Dony" & "Ami" adopted fire and lion as creative elements in the design which convey the continuously striving and mutually helping spirit of Hong Kong people highlighted in a Cantonese oldie "Below the Lion Rock". The fireworks pattern on their bodies echoes the emblem, representing people of different races gathering in Hong Kong as well as the cohesive force which brings people of Hong Kong to participate in the Games.

吉祥物「东仔」（Dony）及「亚妹」（Ami），两者为兄妹关系，由梁伯强与毛沛畿创作，设计以火和狮子作为元素，象征香港人灵活变通，在狮子山下锻炼出同舟共济、自强不息、永不言败的香港精神。至于其身上的斑纹源于本届东亚运的会徽，有象征不同种族和肤色人士汇聚香港之意.
